ABOUT RESTLESS

The ModernAPI toolkit

ReadMe is the documentation platform that powers the UI for tens of thousands of APIs.

Built byReadMe

Hey there!

Agents now make up most of the traffic to API docs. We saw it early, because for twelve years ReadMe has powered the UI for tens of thousands of APIs, in the form of documentation.

But it isn't only how docs get read that's changing. The bigger shift is how APIs get called. An API used to be an integration point, wired up once by code on a server. Now it's an access point too: it's how people actually use your product, through an agent instead of clicking around.

When code was the only caller, an API could never change in a way that broke an integration. Code can't adapt the way a person does when you move a button. But an agent only needs the contract to hold for a few seconds, from the moment it decides to call to the moment it does. That frees your API to move as fast as the rest of your product.

We've never thought of ReadMe as a documentation company. We're the UX for APIs. ReadMe isn't going anywhere, but new users and new use cases call for new tools. So we built Restless, for the developers wiring up integrations and the agents acting on behalf of users alike.

If you're building something, I'd love to hear about it. DM me in Slack or write me at greg@restless.ai.
